Salvation

Salvation

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21)

In the passage above, salvation is viewed as the removal of sin from one's life, thus being saved from one's sins (the wrong things he/she has done).  A person's sins separate them from God (Isaiah 59:1-2).  In this state, they are viewed as dead, apart from God, the Source of Life.  "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).  Sin puts man in a very dangerous & destructive situation regarding his own soul.  God's infinite love for us compelled Him to send Jesus into the world to remove that which separated man from God (John 3:16-17).  Jesus came to "save his people from their sins."  Salvation is the removal of sin from a man or woman so that they are no longer separated from their Creator.

Jesus announced, "For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" (Matthew 26:28).  Jesus Christ shed His own blood at Calvary to remove the sins of mankind and His blood is the only God-approved means of removing one's sins.  Salvation from our sins can only be found in the name of Jesus (Acts 4:10-12).  According to Jesus however, not everyone (not even a majority) shall enjoy the benefits of His shed blood and live eternally with God in heaven (Matthew 7:13-14,21).

Since Christ died for the sins of the whole world and the invitation to share in His saving grace is open to everyone (Acts 10:34-35; Revelation 22:17), this would contradict the false concept of anyone being predestined for salvation or condemnation.  Some will choose to come to Christ in faith & obedience and will be saved.  Unfortunately, others will ignore or reject His plea and be condemned (Mark 16:16; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).  Our eternal destiny is determined on the basis of whether we choose to receive & hold onto Christ's offer of salvation, or if we decide to ignore or reject it at our own peril.

Searching the scriptures in the Bible, we can know how to be saved from our sins by the blood of Christ.

"What must I do to be saved?"

1.  I must hear the gospel (Matthew 7:24-27; Romans 10:14,17).
2.  I must believe in God, His Son Jesus, and His word (Mark 16:16; Hebrews 11:6).
3.  I must repent of my sins (Luke 13:3,5; Acts 17:30).
4.  I must confess faith in Christ as God's Son (Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:9-10).
5.  I must be baptized for the remission (forgiveness) of my sins (Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21).
6.  I must remain faithful unto death (Matthew 10:22; Revelation 2:10).

As a result of obeying the gospel plan of salvation, I enjoy the following benefits:

1.  I receive the forgiveness of sins (as stated above).
2.  I am added to the church by the Lord Himself (Acts 2:47).
3.  I can properly wear the name "Christian" (Acts 11:26).
4.  I have access to all spiritual blessings which are found in Christ (Ephesians 1:4).
5.  I can look forward to everlasting/eternal life in heaven (Romans 6:23; 1 John 5:11).

Wherever you are at this moment, we hope you will decide to accept the salvation offered by Christ.  Will you come to Jesus by humbly submitting yourself in obedient faith and becoming a member of His church?  Please consider what you need to do before it is everlastingly too late.
